Sometimes I get jealous of my siblings

Yeah, I could whine about how tough it is to be the eldest child: the feeling that you’re the experimental voyage of your parents teaching methods. I’m the eldest child, and I get jealous of my siblings for many things. Sometimes they have been prettier. Sometimes they have tested better in school subjects. Some teachers loved them more than they did me. But right now I’m jealous because my brother and sister both seem to have stumbled onto careers they love.

I’m not going to go into THAT much either. It just makes me jealous. I’m waiting for the same miracle to happen to me. Oh well. I was talking to my sister yesterday and she helped me at least stumble on to a new mantra: “To hell with it.”

Ok, so I’ve had a mantra along these lines that uses far fouler language. She was talking about a summer academy she attended where that mantra was bestowed up on all the students. Don’t worry about things, just think “To hell with it” and know that you wouldn’t be here if you weren’t talented.

So yeah, say it with me now!

Got some deadlines this week, so I’m saying it a lot.
